Before the first plantation, water had to reach every corner of the land. This story shares how our irrigation system was planned, installed, corrected, and tested—overcoming practical challenges to ensure reliability, efficiency, and long-term farm sustainability.
The irrigation setup marked a critical transition—from prepared soil to a cultivable farm—bringing its own set of technical and logistical challenges.
The process began on 6 November 2025, when we visited Savitri Irrigation in Dapoli to understand available solutions, evaluate material quality, and plan a system suitable for the plot’s layout and water source.
On 8 November 2025, we confirmed requirements with the supplier, finalising pipe specifications and quantities after assessing field dimensions and water pressure needs. This step was crucial to avoid under- or over-engineering the system.
Material movement and on-ground execution started on 9 November 2025, when raw irrigation materials were transported to the plot. Coordinating transport on narrow village roads and aligning manpower availability required careful planning.
The actual setup took place on 13 November 2025, when HDPE pipes were connected to the water tank. During this process, we encountered leakage at the pipe–tank junction, caused by improper fitting and pressure imbalance. The issue required rework, additional sealing, and alignment adjustments before achieving a stable connection.
To validate the setup, the land was irrigated once before plantation, ensuring even water flow and identifying any remaining weaknesses in the system.
This phase reinforced an essential lesson: effective irrigation isn’t just about water availability—it’s about precision, reliability, and patience in execution.
